Ten Reasons Why I Support Barack Obama

by Charles Bohannan on November 12, 2008

  1. He is from Hawaii and embodies the true spirit of Aloha. Plus he bodysurfs (at Sandys of course).
  2. He means what he says and says what he means.
  3. He is intelligent, disciplined and even-tempered.
  4. He is bi-racial (as am I) which I feel helps him to see the world in better balance.
  5. He grew up in a splintered home, wondering about his identity and purpose — then found it.
  6. He understands what it’s like to be different, to be the underdog or the odd one out.
  7. He’s a family man with a strong character and upright fundamental values.
  8. He has earned, worked and fought for everything he has.
  9. He is an excellent writer and orator – nobody I’ve heard comes close.
  10. He always put others before himself.

Also, Web 2.0. His youth and familiarality with computer/internet technology gives him a global awareness the older generation just doesn’t get. We are all connected — Hawaii, USA, China, Iraq — everyone. Everything we or anyone else does affects us all. Obama gets that. George Bush and Republican greed machine doesn’t.

You’re absolutely right, Jason. I guess I’ve taken that for granted since I’m around it so much, all day long. I can’t even imagine how different Obama would be if he wasn’t cyber-savvy.

Hey — you’re my 1st comment on this blog, Mahalo!
